Showy Primrose
(Oenothera speciosa)

Showy Primrose is another abundant roadside flower in Texas in spring and summer. It sometimes also creates a thick pink blanket in open pastures and prairie fields. This is another flower that often overlaps in blooming with bluebonnets and mixed fields make a very pretty combination. This one was taken in April 2001 along the side of Captial of Texas highway in Austin.
