This
Scarlet Guara was a great find in a field of bluebonnets (seen
in background here as blue splotches). This is a very delicate
grass-like flower with a slender, hairy stem and a cluster of small,
1/2 inch ordhid-like blossoms at the top. The flower has a very
sweet, honeysuckle smell and is often called wild honeysuckle or bee
blossum. This one was taken in a field of bluebonnets of RR2222
in northwest Austin in April 2001.
