Rose Vervain
(Verbena canadensis)

These wild verbenas grow on the roadsides in Texas, especially in the hill country, in the spring. They often grow in dense purple patches, and are also often found intermixed with bluebonnets and paintbrush. This one was photographed near Marble Falls, Texas in April 2001.
