The
Texas Paintbrush is a spring bloomer that I think rivals the bluebonnet
for beauty during the spring bloom in Texas. The paintbrush is
often a companion of the bluebonnet, and mixed fields of red and
blue are really awesome. The blooming season for paintbrush is
similar to the bluebonnet, March-June, although some straggle into
the summer sporadically. This photo was taken in the Texas hill
country near Llano in April 2001.
